Super Hero

Super Hero

How adorable is this little themed super hero newborn session? Mom contacted me after little man was born, with these fun ideas of baby with Spider Man, and other super heroes! I did his big brothers newborn photos almost 3 years ago, and I was so happy to hear that mom had another little boy.

While talking to mom on the phone, she told me how much she loved super heroes (mostly Batman and Spiderman) and thought it would be fun to incorporate the theme into a few of the baby’s photo session! She even made this adorable Spiderman mask the morning of the session. How funny!!  She noticed on another website, an awesome backdrop of a cityscape. While browsing MY website, she noticed the exact same backdrop and called me to see if I still had it. I, in fact still had the backdrop and it worked out perfectly with the themed photos.

Outside of the fun super hero themed photos we wanted to do a few simple and sweet images as well. I love the way the last ones turned out. It is so simple and I love how peaceful he looks sleeping.

Cream Colored Bricks

Cream Colored Bricks

When {H}  contacted me she had thought of a session location along the lake. I love the cream colored bricks of the Southport Lighthouse on Simmons Island in Kenosha, so I suggested this spot. Mom was so laid back about locations so we ended up here.

Of course after doing some photos by the lighthouse I always end up by Simmons Beach! These huge rocks are another favorite spot of mine to photograph sessions. The fun beach grass, and view of the Simmons Lighthouse is always a perk as well. The lighting was so pretty and “even”  in this location.

This was the first time photographing this awesome family, their three boys did fantastic! The older two boys totally posed themselves for the majority of the session. I love when my clients do that! It makes their photos look so natural. This family was a ton of fun to work with, and I hope to see them again soon! Maybe next time we will find another location with some cool cream colored brick, or a pretty spot along the lake. 🙂

Three Big Sisters

Three Big Sisters

I was super flattered when {J} contacted me about doing newborn photos for their 4th baby who will have three big sisters! I went to high school with both her and her hubby, and haven’t seen them in years! This is always a super fun part of my job, and one of the reasons I love it so much. Getting to catch up and hang out with people I haven’t seen in awhile.

When Mom contacted me about their baby’s photos she let me know they were not finding out the gender. They already had 3 girls, so I can only imagine their thoughts on having a 4th baby girl! I bet they couldn’t wait to find out if baby was a he or another she.

When baby was born Dad was supposed to yell out if it was a boy or girl. Well, he must have been in shock because he hadn’t said anything. Finally word came out that it was a BOY!! How exciting is that? I know his three big sisters will watch out for him! I have three big brothers, it was definitely interesting growing up! Haha, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I love the fun color scheme mom picked out! The clothes were adorable, and baby {A}’s pants were made by his Grandma. As always I was also super excited about Dad bringing in his police uniform! Mom was so funny, she wanted her husband in the photos of course…but more as a prop to hold baby {A} and show off his uniform haha!!

The Great Lakes

The Great Lakes

I think sometimes us Midwesterners forget how lucky we are. We live in the middle of the country far from what most consider as “scenic” parts of the United States, but many of us forget how special it is to live by the Great Lakes. Especially those of us in larger cities around the lakes where beaches may not be in pristine condition.

I wanted to do some beach photos so I did some research on this beautiful park in Sheboygan County. Right along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Rolling sand dunes, tall grass, a long boardwalk, as well as forest areas.  This park is absolutely gorgeous. It has quickly become one of my favorite places to go.

I absolutely love the colors of these images. The sky was light shades of pastels that really set off the beautiful blue color of Lake Michigan in the beach shots. I love the reflections off the sand when the waves washed out. It reminds me of sand along the shores in California that reflect the sky.

The Woodland images are so magical, I feel like it sums up childhood during the summer. Chasing fireflies, and watching the sunset. You can’t beat the magic of summer.

Little Sailor Girl

Little Sailor Girl

I was so excited when {J} contacted me about newborn photos.  Not only are they a U.S. Navy family, but her due date was the 4th of July!! How fun and patriotic is that?  I love working with members of our military and getting to hear their stories. {L} was so much fun to talk with, and ironically enough he is the same rate in the Navy as my husband was. It was so interesting hearing this couple’s story about meeting in Bahrain while {L} was stationed there.

There are many things I miss about the Navy lifestyle. It’s the type of thing that just never leaves you, even after you (or in my case my husband) leaves the military. Being a military member or spouse just kind of runs in your veins. The experience and people you meet along the way is something you hold very close to your heart.

These lovely clients of mine had decided to keep the gender of their baby a surprise. They ended up with a sweet little sailor GIRL! Mom and dad both wanted to incorporate the Navy and nautical look into some of their photos. I was SO excited to hear this! I told Dad to bring his uniform to get a few shots of him holding baby {J}. He also brought his uniform hat, and we incorporated this as well. I’m in love this these photos.

Mom was open to many different color options. They were so much fun and laid back, especially little {J} who was a perfect little sleepy head. We ended up with a lot of fun prop shots because of how great this little sailor girl slept!

I do offer a special military and first responders discount. Refer to my Military Family page for more information.
